About the Opportunity
The South Australian Civil and Administration Tribunal (SACAT) is a state tribunal that helps South Australians resolve issues within specific areas of law, either through agreement at a conference, conciliation or mediation, or through a decision of the Tribunal at hearing. SACAT also conducts reviews of Government decisions. SACAT strives to be accessible and responsive to customer needs, and deals with cases in a large range of areas (or jurisdictions). The Tribunal operates across the state of South Australia and is a key part of the state justice system.
The Member Support Officer is responsible for providing high quality Member support services. This includes assisting members prepare complex matters in readiness for hearing, and providing support to the Member(s) in the course of the hearing. Member Support Officers also assist with case management when required to do so.
The successful incumbent for the role must have the following essential personal attributes:
- Studying towards a qualification in Law.
- Demonstrated effectiveness in communicating with a variety of audiences, both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to utilise the intranet and internet to access research material.
- Demonstrated experience in the use of a range of computer programs which support activities such as word processing, case management systems, working with spreadsheets, and the internet.
The successful incumbent for the role should also have the following qualities:
- High level of customer service skills
- A broad knowledge of tribunals’ structure and role.
- Experience in a service delivery environment working with legislation, policy and procedures.
The role is well suited to penultimate and final year law students, with an interest in administrative law
