About the Practical Legal Training Program

The Crown Solicitor's Office (CSO) offers placements to students wishing to complete the Practical Legal Training (PLT) component of their professional qualifications. Placements are offered to approximately six students three times per year, for a period of six weeks (225 hours) in accordance with the guidelines set by the Law Society.

Potential applicants are advised that there are three intakes for 2022. This advert is for applications for the intake occurring:

  • 7 February 2022 to 21 March 2022

Please provide your University Academic Summary – Law Results by saving your results into a Word Document or PDF and attaching this after you have answered all the questions below.

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be will provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD. If invited to attend an interview, you will also be required to complete a pre-placement declaration.

Please note, that a placement agreement form will need to be submitted if you are successfully chosen to participate in the CSO PLT program. Please liaise with your University to obtain this form should you be invited for an informal interview.
