About the Opportunity

Forensic Science SA (FSSA) provides a comprehensive, coordinated range of services to agencies associated with the justice system including the State Coroner, South Australia Police (SAPOL), the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) and defence and civil litigants. FSSA is part of the Attorney General’s Department and the Director, FSSA reports to the Executive Director, Legal, Legislative and Rights Protection Services. Within FSSA there are five main groups: Pathology, Chemistry & Materials, Biology, Toxicology and Administration. The first four groups are responsible for the scientific investigation of crime and each group has a diverse range of scientific analytical equipment and laboratory chemicals at their disposal.

In working for FSSA, the Forensic Scientist (Chemistry) contributes to the provision of an efficient, timely and quality analytical, interpretative and advisory service in illicit drugs to clients that results in a scientific contribution to the effective operation of the justice system in South Australia.

Contribute to the provision of an efficient and timely illicit drugs service for the Chemistry Section, mainly through the chemical analysis of illicit drugs cases.

Essential Qualifications

  • A degree in Science majoring in Chemistry

Special Conditions for Employment
