About the Opportunity

The Attorney-General's Department of South Australia has exciting opportunities for ambitious and motivated Graduate Solicitors to join the Crown Solicitor's Graduate Solicitor pool based in Adelaide. This is an outstanding opportunity for graduate solicitors looking to work with a high profile legal team and kick-start your career in the SA Government.

  • Successful applicants are placed in a pool and notified, if and when, suitable vacancies arise.
  • Successful applications for the pool are valid for a period of twelve months for appointment to temporary positions ranging from 3-12 months. These roles may lead to longer term or ongoing appointments as vacancies arise.

Reporting to the Crown Solicitor through the Assistant Crown Solicitor, your main responsibilities will be to provide high quality legal advice and representation on matters of ordinary complexity to clients of the Crown Solicitor's Office. More specifically, your day-to-day responsibilities will include (but are not limited to):

  • Researching and preparing legal opinions and other written and oral advice on less complex matters of law
  • Preparing court documents, affidavits, letters and other legal documents
  • Contributing to client service excellence by responding to clients generally on various legal issues

Special Conditions for Employment

Employment is dependent upon a National Police Certificate clearance that the AGD finds satisfactory. Successful applicants will be will provided further information if an interview is requested. Forms are not to be lodged directly with SA Police (SAPOL) under any circumstances and any fees incurred by applicants in doing so will not be recoverable from the AGD.

  • Some out of hours work may be required, as well as interstate and intrastate travel.
  • Solicitors may be assigned to duties at this level within any area of the Crown Solicitor's Office including outpostings.
  • Applicants must be admitted, or eligible for admission, as a practitioner of the Supreme Court of South Australia.
